Hiking

Swimming

There are very rustic steps to the side of the dock to get in and out of the water.

Swimming is one of our favourite things to do, but you should be mindful when you are in the water that there are passing boats. Also you should avoid swimming at night as fisherman often place fishing nets in the lake.

Arrival Guide

This section provides information for arriving to the Airbnb from Panajachel. Before you get on a boat make sure you have cash and plans for meals, most businesses don't accept cash and there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the Airbnb.1. Cash and Groceries: there is a La Torre supermarket close to the dock that also has an ATM machine: Supermercado La Torre. If you are arriving by private shuttle ask the driver to make a stop here or you can ask the public shuttle to drop you off here; it is only a few minutes walk/tuktuk from here to the dock.2. Parking: if you are driving to the lake you will need to park your car in Panajachel: there is no road access to the Airbnb. There are two private parking stations (parqueos) close to the dock:
- Kayucos Marina: WA +502 5838 8457
- Tzanjuyu Bay Privado Parqueo: WA +502 7762 1318

3. Boat dock: whether you plan to arrive by private or public boat make your way to the Tzanjuyu dock at the bottom of Calle del Embarcadero.

In this area you'll meet your private boat captain. If you are taking a public boat then continue down to the dock. The public boats to our part of the lake leave from the right-hand side of this dock.

Tell the public boat Captain that you are going to Casa de Cristal. Almost all boat captains know our Airbnb, if your Captain doesn't then add "en Patziac", which is the name of our neighbourhood. It is normal to pay for trip as you get off the boat and you should expect to pay Q20-25 per person, if you have correct change. The public boat captains can be opportunistic and often will charge more if you pay with a large note.4. Public boat trip: Normally the public boat will make several stops at public and private docks along the way, including the public dock in Santa Cruz La Laguna.

The next village, with a public dock, after Santa Cruz La Laguna is Jaibalito. This is the last village before the Airbnb and it is a good idea to remind the boat captain that you are going to Casa de Cristal.

A few minutes later you will arrive at the our private dock. If you have correct change you should expect to pay Q20-25 per person. The public boat captains can be opportunistic and often will charge more if you pay with a large note.
